Cles

The village of Cles is the main place of the Val di Non valley. Situated at 658 m a.s.l., Cles lies on the western shore of Lake Santa Giustina and counts some 7,200 inhabitants

Ever heard of the "Tavola Clesiana"? It is a valuable archaeological finding, dating back to the year 46 AD. A copy of the Roman finding is exhibited at the Palazzo Assessorile in Cles.

Thanks to its advantageous geographic position, Cles is the ideal starting point for numerous hikes in the great outdoors. You might, for instance, explore the near-by Brenta Dolomites, the Ortles massif or the Mendola mountain. Furthermore, Lake Giustina is a great place for a number of water sports, ranging from sailing and windsurfing to game fishing.

Numerous apple trees - all of them qualified D.O.C. trees - characterise the village. How lovely this looks in spring, with apple trees flowering at every corner! By the way: Ever heard of the Melinda apple? Well, Melinda is the brand name given to high quality apples exclusively grown in the Val di Non valley. The so-called Melinda Consortium has a total of 5,000 members and produces more than 300,000 tuns of apples a year. The most typical kinds of apples are the Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Rennet Canada.
