The highest peak of the Pale di San Martino group

With a height of 3,192 m a.s.l., the Cima Vezzana is the highest peak of the Pale di San Martino group and overlooks the Valle del Travignolo and the Passo Rolle on the northern side of the extensive group which dominates the valle di Primiero. The Passo del Travignolo separates the Cima Vezzana from the nearby Cimon della Pala.
The peak of the Vezzana can be reached via a technically easy path which requires, however, mountain experience, sure-footedness and a good fitness level. The magnificent panorama you can enjoy from here, stretches to the dolomitic peaks surrounding the Pale di San Martino group.
The first ascent to Cima Vezzana took place in 1878 and was undertaken by the Englishmen Douglas William Freshfield and Charles C. Tucker, who were totally unaware of having climbed the highest peak of the group, which at the time was thought to be the eight metres lower Cimon della Pala.
