The 12 Apostles - is the name given to a group of Dolomite peaks in the Pinzolo area, and also to the homonymous mountain hut at 2,490 m a.s.l., which we are visiting today

Our starting point is the 2,100 m high Doss del Sabion mountain, the skiing mountain of Pinzolo, easily accessible by cable car. First, we descend towards the meadows "Bregn da l'Ors" (1,850 m a.s.l.), where we follow signpost no. 307. The itinerary overlooks Lago di Valagola (or di Val d'Agola) and takes us to the green plain of Lago Asciutto, where the ascent begins.
The ascent is very steep: also known as 'Scala Santa', this section winds steadily higher through rocky terrain. This well-marked path is complete with iron ropes at key points, allowing hikers to manage it without difficulties. The rocks then become flatter and lead us to a basin where Rifugio XII Apostoli is situated. Having reached our final destination, we reward ourselves with a delicious lunch and a visit to the chapel in the rocks, before beginning our return journey.
This mountain hike is very demanding, but the breathtaking views are an excellent reward for our physical efforts. The panorama stretches from the green forests of the Val Rendena to the glaciers of the Carè Alto in the Adamello Group and onto the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. A truly fascinating hike!
