Hike across the Val della Mite to Pejo 3000

The mountain station of the highest cable car of Peio is situated below Monte Vioz at almost 3,000 m a.s.l. Our hike begins at Rifugio Dos dei Cembri

On a hot summer day we almost reach the glaciers of the Ortles-Cevedale group. In Pejo Fonti we take the cable car to Rifugio Lo Scoiattolo from where we take the chair lift to Doss dei Cembri. This is where our hike through the rocky landscape along the slopes at the foot of the glacier of Monte Vioz (3,645 m a.s.l.) starts.

Path no. 138 on the western slope of the Valle della Mite becomes progressively steeper. It runs through a landscape of red rocks and screes. The swishing waters of the glacial stream Rio della Mite can be heard during the entire hike. We approach the mighty glaciers and after 2.5 hours we arrive at the mountain station of Pejo 3000.

A breathtaking panorama and the stunning landscapes of the Stelvio National Park, the Dolomites and the Presanella glaciers opens up in front of us as we descend to the valley by cable car.
