The 12 Apostles - is the name of a group of Dolomite peaks in the Pinzolo area and a mountain hut at 2,490 m a.s.l., which we are going to visit today

Our starting point is the 2,100-m high Doss del Sabion, the skiing mountain of Pinzolo, which is easily accessible by cable car. First, we descend towards the meadows "Bregn da l'Ors" (1,850 m a.s.l.), where we follow signpost no. 307. The itinerary overlooks Lago di Valagola (or di Val d'Agola) and takes us to the verdant plain of Lago Asciutto, where the ascent starts.
This very steep climb, also known as 'Scala Santa', ascends through rocky terrain. The well-marked path is complete with iron ropes in its most challenging parts, allowing hikers to stay safe. The rocks then flatten and lead us to a basin where Rifugio XII Apostoli is situated. Having reached our final destination, we reward ourselves with a delicious lunch and a visit to the chapel in the rocks, before beginning our return journey.
This mountain hike is very demanding, but the breathtaking views are an excellent reward for our physical efforts. The panorama stretches from the lush forests of the Val Rendena to the glaciers of the Carè Alto in the Adamello Group and to the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. A truly fascinating hike!
