Snow-shoe hike to Mt Cogne

Long circular walk to the panoramic mountain Monte Cogne

From Brusago you can proceed about one km by car on the forested trail, until you see the prohibition sign. From this point you walk with your snow-shoes, on the trail no. 407. From the bridge you take the trail no. 470, diverting from the forested trail and leading into the forest. Paralleling the river Rio Vasoni, you walk the way up to the Malga Vasoni Bassa pasture at 1,675 m. Then you proceed the way up until you reach the pastures at Malga Vasoni Alta at 1,972 m. The panoramic view from this place is breathtaking and incudes the mountains of the Pinetano, Fregasoga (2,452 m) and a little more in the distance, the Monte Rujoch (2,415 m). At the mountain hut, there are also some wooden sculptures.

Always on the path no. 470, after 15 more minutes of walking, you reach the Passo Mirafiori (2,047 m a.s.l.). Then you proceed in western direction across the back of the mountain and to the top of the Monte Cogne at 2,171 m. Here you really deserve a little break, before you walk back to the starting point.

This time the way leads along the ridge of the Monte Frattoni (2,073 m). You walk down on the path no. 468 towards Malga Vernera Alta. From the Alpine pasture you need to change onto the forested trail, leading towards west, and joining another forested trail farther on. The snow-shoe tour proceeds to the village of Camorè, on the western slopes of the Monte Cogne, to the Malga Vasoni Bassa. From here you can take the same path you walked on the ascent, until you reach your starting point.
