From the Costalunga Pass to the Three Huts (Tre Baite)

The winter walking-tour by snow shoes below Mt Catinaccio offers an impressive view on the Val di Fassa and South Tyrol.

The Passo Costalunga in the skiing area of Carezza (Vigo di Fassa) is our starting point of this snow shoe walking-tour. We follow the marker 548 which brings us close to the rocks of the Catinaccio (Roda di Vael). It’s not always easy to find our way in the deep snow, but soon we reach the forest road which makes our going easier. We follow the markers "Roda di Vael" until we reach the "Tre Baite" (Three Huts), three wooden huts.

Normally from here you have a fantastic view to the Val di Fassa, from Mt Marmolada to Mt Monzoni, but unfortunately today it is foggy. We go back the same way until the marker "Perlenweg" (Pearl Path) and follow it in the direction of "Nigerpass" until the top of the Hut Masaré. It is still quiet and peaceful in the area, the skiing season is not opened yet. Two deer are crossing the path! Along the blue slope we walk downhill until we reach the path, which leads us back to the Passo Costalunga, where our small tour ends.
