The huge variety of lakes in Trentino is limitless, and so are their shades of colours. Here, lakes can be found everywhere: from the valley floors, to hills, to high plateaus, to stunning alpine lakes in the mountains.
It is interesting to note that their dimensions vary according to the altitude they are located at. The biggest lakes can be found on the valley floor, whereas they are completely absent between an altitude of 1,200 m and 1,500 m a.s.l. The highest number of lakes are contained between 1,500 and 3,200 m a.s.l., with a total of 250 bodies of water. Trentino's lakes are particularly appreciated for their excellent water quality and transparency and their richness in fish.
