Castello di Seregnano is not a typical castle as it was built on the remains of an ancient castle whose medieval traces were swept away. The new monument was erected according to the principles of 16th century Italian architecture and served as a fortified noble residence.
It is situated in a fantastic panoramic spot overlooking the valle del Sina and its structure has certainly influenced the urbanistic development of the village of Civezzano. Originally it was conceived as a village centre and thus included also other buildings such as the near San Sabino church.
The three 16th century sculptures of the residence of Seregnano are dominated by three towers which still conserve some traces of the previous 14th century works. In the 16th century, the Guarentis rebuilt the castle after having inherited some goods from the Seregnanos, a family belonging to the group of the Roccabrunas. The marvelous chimney in the lounge in fact, was added on this occasion.
