Spring hike to the San Pietro Mountain Hut

The Rif. San Pietro mountain hut on the Monte Calino is located on a natural terrace at 980 m a.s.l. - a gorgeous destination for a hike in spring

Our starting point is Tenno. After the village centre we reach the first signpost to the hiking path no. 401 which we follow and reach the hamlet of Calvola and afterwards through a dense forest the path which proceeds to San Pietro. After about half a kilometre on the asphalt road, a path branches off to the right. It leads us uphill (some quite steep sections) to the Rif. San Pietro mountain hut.

Due to its beautiful position amidst nature, with view on Tenno and Lake Garda and the relatively low altitude of 980 m a.s.l., the hut is among the fist mountain huts which opens for the summer months in the Trentino. After a break we walk further on path no. 406 towards north until we reach an asphalt road again.

After about 200 m, we turn onto the forest path, which proceeds towards Casa Bastiani. We walk further downhill on path no. 406 through the wood until the little hamlet of Canale di Tenno with its characteristic houses. Along the field path which proceeds parallel to the state road SS421 we finally return to our starting point again, Tenno. Here we finish our beautiful circular walk below the Monte Calino.

Notice: The last section of path no. 401 is not accessible: at the croassroad of car park P2 (locality Calino), instead of continuing towards 'Treni- Bondiga', turn left on the asphalt road, following the signpost for Rifugio S. Pietro hut, until the crossroad with path no. 406, which leads directly to the hut.
