After a long winter we explore the Val di Ledro, where spring flowers are already blooming

The Valle di Ledro overlooks the northern part of Lake Garda. In February and March the first flowers blossom on the sunny slopes near Barcesino. If you drive from Riva del Garda towards Molina di Ledro you need to take the road branching off to the small hamlet of Barcesino. The first signpost no. 451 towards the Santuario "Madonna Addolorata" is situated near the fountain. While walking along this path we admire some snowdrops and primroses.
We ascend along a forest road towards the Val Giumella. While walking we are lucky enough to admire some blooming Easter roses slightly after the signpost. Many of them have different shades of violet, white and pink. We return along the large road instead of descending to the church. This itinerary leaves the forest and arrives at a meadow landscape covered with a carpet of blossoming snowdrops. The quantity of white flowers, the green-brown forest and the snow-covered mountain peaks characterise this wonderful landscape.
We follow the path to Molina di Ledra where we take the village road back to Barcesino, the final destination of today's hike.
Information: Snowdrops bloom in late February/early March.
