Hike to the Coredo Lakes and the Sette Larici Hut

This circular walking tour proceeds through the fields and woods of the Predaia Plateau, past the villages of Sfruz, Smarano, Tavon and Coredo

We do this more than 12 km long but easy tour on a spring day. But it is recommended also during summer and autumn. Starting at the village of Coredo, we walk to Tavon and on the forest path further towards the lakes. The two artificially created lakes are located in a basin, Lake Tavon and Lake Coredo. Particularly they serve to irrigate the orchards but meanwhile they have become a local recreation area for the villagers and guests.

We cross the dam wall between the lakes and climb up the hill on the other side. The path leads us to a viewpoint and a panoramic path (marker SF) which we follow towards south. Behind the Madonnina di Smarano Chapel a slightly ascending fitness trail starts through the forest (no. 3) which we follow until the Baita Sette Larici mountain hut.

Here, at the well-known larch meadows we have reached the highest point of our tour. Now the descent on the path no. 16 towards Credai and Sfruz starts. The village is located amidst green meadows and offers an awesome view on the Brenta Dolomites. Across the fields we reach Smarano where the fruit-growing region with the now blooming apple trees starts. In the neighbouring village of Coredo, our circular walk ends.
