Castel Drena

Castel Drena overlooks the Marocche, a special natural phenomenon from the Ice Age that led to the formation of a moonscape-like landscape of more than 200 hectares

Castel Drena is supposed to having been built on the site of a preexisting 12th century village. The first owners of the castle, the family da Seiano, used it to control the connection road between Trento and Lake Garda.

Thanks to its strategic position and two defensive walls, the monument was both fireproof and unassailable with the commonly used weapons of the Middle Ages. Its predominant Romanesque architecture also includes some gothic and 16th century elements. Inside the castle you can see the remains of a little church devoted to Saint Martin.
