This ancient fortress overlooking the village of Sarnonico was once owned by the Morenberg family
Image gallery: Castel Morenberg
Castel Morenberg consists of two main parts: the first part was built around 1300 by the notary Giovanni, the head of the Morenberg family, whereas the second part was added in the 16th century. Following the extinction of the Morenberg family, the monument was passed on to the Barons of Cles.
In 1888 the building was seriously destroyed in a fire and then converted into a a farmhouse. The remains of a sundial from 1663 are still visible above the entrance gate.
Today the castle is in private hands.
