Hike from Cheserle to the Rif. V. Lancia

A hike to the malghe of Pasubio, passing Malga Monticello, Monte Spil and Sentiero delle Zie to reach Rifugio Vincenzo Lancia in the mountains of Trambileno

Rifugio Lancia was built in 1940 by the Rovereto branch of the Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini. It owes its name to Vincenzo Lancia, founder of the Lancia car company, who passed away in 1937. The president of the S.A.T.'s Rovereto branch was a close friend of his, and together they discovered the uniqueness of the alpine environment of Alpe Pozza in the heart of the Presanello mountains.

We drive to the small car park above the village of Giazzera near Trambileno, in the area of Malga Cheserle. Path no. 119 leads first to Malga Monticello, then to Mont Spil, and continues towards Malga Zocchi. For our return, we take path no. 102A (Sentiero delle Zie), followed by path no. 101, which leads through a coniferous forest.

The landscape is very varied. In late June, at the start of summer, typical flowers of the Southern Calcareous Alps bloom here. Monte Spil offers a stunning view of Vallarsa and Monte Zugna.
