The spring walk leads to the turquoise mountain lake near Tenno, starting at the medieval village of Canale, a natural monument

The village of Tenno in the Garda Trentino area is definitely less known than Riva, Arco or Torbole. However, this locality features some natural and cultural gems and is definitely worth visiting. We recommend undertaking today's hike in spring when the temperatures are still mild and not too hot.
We start at the car park above the village of Canale di Tenno (or Villa Canale), one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy, and cross its impressive, medieval historic centre while admiring marvellous details and views. Villa Canale is a truly stunning cultural monument thanks to its medieval architecture which has been preserved completely over time.
Path no. 406 to Lago di Tenno starts immediately after the village. After only 15 minutes of walking, we can already see the intense, blue colour of the lake. The turquoise colour reminds of the sea in the south depicted on postcards, and the white stones on the bed of the lake even enhance its turquoise colour. We walk around the lake to admire it from near. The banks of the lake are not well-equipped, except for the south-eastern bank where you can find a small kiosk complete with bar and toilets. In April, the water is still too cold for a bath but within a few weeks, you can already have a refreshing bath in the lake's turquoise water. We return to our starting point along the same path.
