Hike to Rifugio Solander and Lago delle Malghette

This circular walk leads us through the forests near Passo Campo Carlo Magno past the Malga Folgarida di Dimaro and Malghet Aut mountain huts on Monte Vigo, and finally to Lago delle Malghette

Hike to Rifugio Solander and Lago delle Malghette - offers nearby:
4 nights from 320 € per person

Our hike begins northwards of passo Campo Carlo Magno at 1,650 m a.s.l. Initially, we follow a forest path running through a forest and then towards Malga Dare. From there, we proceed our hike towards Malga Folgarida di Dimaro, where we reach the junction with path 265, connecting Folgarida to Lago delle Malghette. However, we continue on the forest path towards Malghet Aut and the rifugi Rosalpina and Albasini. The path leads uphill but is easily manageable. Once at Malghet Aut, we continue to climb towards Monte Vigo.

At Rifugio Solander (a restaurant at 2,050 m a.s.l.), we have a well-deserved break. On this peak overlooking the Val Mastellina, we enjoy a stunning view of the Presanella group and the Brenta Dolomites
, but also northwards of the Ortles-Cevedale group. The slope continues on a comfortable forest path to Monte Vigo (2,170 m a.s.l.), the highest point of our hike.

Below us towards south-west, we can already spot Lago delle Malghette. We descend on a steep mule path until we reach this stunning lake embedded among meadows and forests. The Brenta Dolomites are reflected in its waters. This is a truly fascinating place! Our descent continues on a forest path; the final 3 kilometres to Campo di Carlo Magno follow the forest road of Malga Vigo.
