Hike on the Gnomes’ Path to Lake Caprioli

The “Sentiero degli Gnomi” – Gnomes’ Path – connects Pellizzano in the Val di Sole valley with the Lago dei Caprioli lake at the Malga Bassa di Fazzon mountain hut

This comfortable walking tour on the theme trail leads us to an idyllic lake in the middle of the forest. In Pellizzano we follow the signposts to Fazzon and Lago dei Caprioli lake. Just at the southern border of the village, the Sentiero della Palù, a forest path which proceeds to the Malga Bassa di Fazzon mountain hut, starts. The first section is also known as Sentiero degli Gnomi (Gnomes’ Path). Here a number of statures made of stones, wood and other natural materials can be found, among them forest spirits, witches, animal forms and of course gnomes. A real nice experience especially for kids.

A little further up, the path proceeds across wooden bridges through a little marsh, then the Malga Bassa di Fazzon mountain hut follows where the forest path meets the road. On this road we walk the last 400 metres to the lake. The Lago di Fazzon, better known as Lago dei Caprioli (lake of the deer) is located in a basin surrounded by coniferous forests. We round it and enjoy our lunch at the tavern on the northern bank. For our way back we choose the same route.
