The Hidden Forest of Daiano

A walk through a forest with many secrets: Who lives in the forest? Which tracks can be discovered? The stations along the path introduce the children to nature in a playful way

Starting point of our walking tour is the village centre of Daiano. Just in front of the town hall we find an overview map with the marked circular route: we can choose between the red (shorter) and the blue (longer) route. We decide to take the blue one and follow the markers which lead us to the right. We pass the brewery of Fiemme and turn to the left into the forest. The first station is dedicated to the bees. The circular path is well-signposted and marked with wooden birds. These were mounted on the trees and show the different routes in red and blue.

We follow the path and pass various installations: the worker bees, the hut of the goblin, the large mountain cock, the mother bear with her cubs and the old trunk with its inhabitants. Then we reach the Maso dello Speck mountain hut, which offers local delicacies. Both the smell of the own produced Speck bacon and the children's playground invite to take a break, but unfortunately it is already a bit late. So we carry on walking and reach a lake with goldfish where the life cycle of a frog is explained. The children are enthusiastic about the horses, which like to be stroked.

We follow the path a little uphill and reach the last station, dedicated to the tracks of the forest animals. It is located at an idyllic resting place with a meadow and drinking fountain, which invites to a picnic. From here it is only a fe minutes downhill until the circular hiking trail leads us back to the centre of Daiano and to our starting point. The walking time is between one hour (short red variant) and a few hours (long blue variant). The path is not suitable for prams.
