Our hike starts at the car park of the restaurant Ristorante La Soldanella at the entrance to the Val San Nicolò. We walk along the path on the opposite bank of the river until we reach the hotel Albergo Malga Crocifisso. At the crossroads near the adjacent chapel, we take path no. 603 towards Malga di Munciogn (Malga Monzoni).
Right behind this beautiful mountain hut lies a restaurant at 1,850 m a.s.l. We continue hiking along path no. 603 to Rifugio Taramelli, managed by the student members of the Società Alpina del Trentino (SAT), the regional branch of the alpine club. A steep path (no. 604) ascends to Passo delle Selle at 2,528 m a.s.l. and to Rifugio Passo Le Selle before descending to Passo San Pellegrino.
We climb path no. 604 to Lago delle Selle, a small alpine lake surrounded by the peaks of Costabella in the Massiccio della Marmolada, including the Pala di Crapela, the Punta Selle, the Alochet, the Spiz de Tariciogn and Cima Malinvern. We return to the starting point by following the same path.
Please note: Malga Monzoni is currently closed (updated in April 2026). The rifugio Taramelli hut opens on 13 June 2026.
