A hike through the forests of Castelfondo in the Val di Non: The Sentiero di Proves leads to Passo and Malga Castrin

The Madonna di Senale pilgrimage site (Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde) is located at Passo Palade in the Upper Val di Non. From the village centre near the agritourism Weissn Sepp, we take the Sentiero di Proves, a forest path on the southern side of the Monte Luco in the Maddalene Chain.
After about three kilometres, the path intersects the road from Castelfondo to the Castrin Mountain Hut (Aler Alm). We follow the forest path no. 157 towards Passo Castrin (Hofmahdjoch).
After crossing the wood, we climb to the Monte Sous Moor, a rare example of an alpine taiga on the southern side of the Alps, and continue to the alpine meadows of Passo Castrin, situated below the Cornicolo peak. Path no. 133 finally leads us to Malga Castrin, where we taste the typical delicacies of the Trentino cuisine. In the afternoon, we return on the same path.
