From Passo Rolle to the Laghi di Colbricon past Cima Cavallazza and back to Passo Rolle. This excursion in the eastern part of the Lagorai offers a stunning view of the Dolomites, stretching from the Pale di San Martino to the Marmolada and the peaks of the Catinaccio and Latemar ranges

The mountain hut Malga Rolle (Rolle-Alm), the starting point of our circular hike between the Lagorai mountains, is only a stone's throw from Passo Rolle, alongside the road. We follow signpost no. 348 (Laghi di Colbricon), which leads us along a pleasant forest path to the mountain hut near the Laghi di Colbricon. This is a very special place. The Colbricon peaks reflect in both lakes and it is easy to see why prehistoric people chose this exact location for settlement.
We follow the signpost "Cima Cavallazza" along a path climbing steeply behind the mountain hut. The higher we ascend, the better the view over the two lakes and their surroundings. The path winds through rocks and meadows to the first Cavallazza peak. Here, the view stretches from the Catinaccio Group in the west to the Marmolada in the north, across to the Pale di San Martino in the east, and further to the village of San Martino di Castrozza and Malga Ces. Marvellous!
Now we follow the signpost to Passo Rolle. Views of Lago di Cavallazza accompanies us along our climb to Forcella Cavallazza and continue higher along the slopes of Monte Tognazza. After passing the chairlift, the path crosses ski slopes, eventually leading back to Passo Rolle, from where we return to our starting point.
