An amazing hike at the foot of the Pale di San Martino to the Monte Castellaz, above Passo Rolle

Our starting point is the Val Venegia car park in the Paneveggio Nature Park. From here, we take the forest road to Malga Venegia (with refreshment area) and proceed towards Baita Segantini. The majestic Pale mountain group with the Mulaz, Focobon, Bureloni and the Cimon della Pala rise before us. The broad, pleasant path climbs gently uphill in switchbacks to the expansive meadows where Rifugio Segantini is embedded.
We take "Itinerario del Cristo pensante" path to Monte Castellaz. This small dolomitic peak is located above Passo Rolle and offers a beautiful panoramic view of the surroundings. On the peak beneath the cross, there is the statue of the Cristo pensante. We descend along the western side of the mountain and reach the mountain hut Capanna Cervino. The final section leads towards Malga Juribello, from where we return to the car park after tackling a steep section.
