A quite steep path leads us from malga Valmaggiore above Predazzo to three stunning alpine lakes between the peaks of the Lagorai chain: Lago Brutto, Lago di Moregna and Lago delle Trote

From Predazzo in the Val di Fiemme we drive along a narrow road to the car park of Malga Valmaggiore. We start our hike right here, at 1,620 m a.s.l. Path no. 339 to Lake Morena is initially a forest road, which becomes progressively narrower, steeper and stonier. After about 90 minutes, we reach the meadows of Malga Moregna. We descend to the stunning lake, which is surrounded by grazing horses.
On the opposite lakeside, we climb up a meadow to path no. 349b and follow it along the slopes of Cima Moregna until we reach a crossroads above the malga. We continue our hike along paths no. 339 and 349 to Lago Brutto, the final destination of our trip. Unlike its name might suggest, (Lago Brutto means ugly lake), this body of water is a fascinating natural gem, much like the nearby Lago delle Trote, which we had admired from the slope on our way up. These natural and truly idyllic spots are typical of the mountains of the Lagorai chain. For our way back we take the same path to Malga Valmaggiore, where we stop for our lunch break.
